This August I will be celebrating my third wedding anniversary with the love of my life. I think to myself, "where has the time gone?"
It all began the fall semester of my freshman year of college. I had recently broke up with my high school boyfriend of two years who I though I was going to spend the rest of my life with but instead had other plans. I met Kedric at a BBQ that was held at the house that he was living at with 3 other guys. We exchanged conversation and enjoyed each others company. As the night ended I asked him if he wanted my number. HE REJECTED IT! yup... rejected. So I thought to myself while leaving the BBQ that I wold never see him again, hey I'm newly single, I don't need a man in my life right now, and besides I was leaving the next day for a two week running camp in Malibu. A few days later while attending the running camp I got a text from a random number. It said...
"Hi Kelsey, its Kedric from the BBQ the other night, I know I didn't want your phone number when you tried to give it to me but I was wondering what you were doing tonight?"
I looked at the text and just starred at it for a couple minutes, I couldn't believe it. Was it really him? Should I call the number to make sure? Maybe just not respond? as a few minutes went on and I replied.
Me: "Hey... How did you get my number?"
Him: "I stole it out of my friends phone when he was sleeping, after you left I realized that I wanted to see you again."
Me: "well, I'm in Malibu right now and I won't be back for a few days, can I text you when I get back into town and maybe we can meet?"
So a few days went on, and when I got back into Clovis we decided to have a date. So I asked him where we should meet. Once I arrived he was waiting for me outside of a house. I asked him who lived there and he said "my grandparents." (I'm thinking to myself this kid wants to take me on our first date at his grandparents house!?! Oh geez what am I getting myself into.)
As I walked though the garage doors and into the kitchen I could smell the aroma of a freshly baked Chocolate Chip Cookie. But that wasn't the only thing that was on my mind, I immediately asked him where his grandparents were. He said "Paris, I'm house sitting for them while they are away, you brought your swimsuit right?" A few min later I changed into my swimsuit, when walked back out to the kitchen there was a GIGANTIC CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE the size of the entire cookie sheet and ice-cream covering the entire thing! (he knows a way to a girls heart). He said "I made you a pazookie, I hope thats ok?" (it was probably the best pazookie I have ever eaten.) After a few bites we went for a swim and looked at the stars on the pool deck. As the night ended I left that first date of ours, with the biggest smile on my face and butterflies throughout my whole body. Even though it was soon after my previous relationship to be seeing someone that I barley knew it was like I was talking with an old friend ever time we were together. So, as a few weeks went on, I knew that he was the one that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. He will forever be the one and only love of my life.
